ISO 20022 payment status
PART: Partially accepted
Some transactions accepted; others not yet accepted (pending or rejected); see the transaction statuses. A group or block status only. PART is a payment status your bank reports in a pain.002 status report (banks report it to each other in pacs.002).
| Code | PART |
|---|---|
| Name | Partially accepted |
| Outcome | Partly accepted |
| Reported for | the whole file (GrpSts) or a payment block (PmtInfSts) |
| Messages | pain.002 (bank to customer), pacs.002 (bank to bank) |
What PART means
Some transactions in the file or payment block were accepted and others were not, or not yet (they are pending or rejected). PART describes a group or a block, never a single transaction.
Where PART appears
A status report answers a payment file (pain.001 or pain.008) at up to three levels: the whole message in OrgnlGrpInfAndSts/GrpSts, a payment block in OrgnlPmtInfAndSts/PmtInfSts, and one transaction in TxInfAndSts/TxSts. PART may be reported for the whole file (GrpSts) or a payment block (PmtInfSts); the Payment File Viewer warns when a status sits at a level its ISO code list does not cover.

</OrgnlPmtInfAndSts>The transactions are matched to your file by OrgnlEndToEndId (and OrgnlInstrId), the blocks by OrgnlPmtInfId and the file by OrgnlMsgId.
What comes next, and what to do
- What usually follows: Each transaction’s own status (TxSts) tells you which ones go ahead.
- What to do: Find the transactions with RJCT and their reason codes, correct them and send only those again, with new ids. Do not resend the whole file: the accepted payments would be paid twice.
The reason codes that come with a rejection are explained one by one in the ISO 20022 reason codes.
Not every bank sends every status: many report only rejections, or only a few steps of the flow. Your bank’s implementation guide lists the statuses it uses.
