ISO 20022 payment status
ACSP: Accepted settlement in process
All checks passed and the payment is being executed. ACSP is a payment status your bank reports in a pain.002 status report (banks report it to each other in pacs.002).
| Code | ACSP |
|---|---|
| Name | Accepted settlement in process |
| Outcome | Accepted |
| Reported for | the whole file (GrpSts), a payment block (PmtInfSts) or a single transaction (TxSts) |
| Messages | pain.002 (bank to customer), pacs.002 (bank to bank) |
What ACSP means
Every check before execution passed, and the payment is being executed: settlement is in progress.
For many banks ACSP is the last positive status a payment file gets: ACSC and ACCC need settlement information that not every channel reports back. A payment at ACSP can still come back later as a return, a credit on your statement with a reason code such as AC04.
Where ACSP appears
A status report answers a payment file (pain.001 or pain.008) at up to three levels: the whole message in OrgnlGrpInfAndSts/GrpSts, a payment block in OrgnlPmtInfAndSts/PmtInfSts, and one transaction in TxInfAndSts/TxSts. ACSP may be reported for the whole file (GrpSts), a payment block (PmtInfSts) or a single transaction (TxSts); the Payment File Viewer warns when a status sits at a level its ISO code list does not cover.

What comes next, and what to do
- What usually follows: ACSC, or ACCC when the payee’s bank reports back. A bank further along can still reject or return the payment.
- What to do: Treat the payment as on its way. For same-day services, follow up only after the expected settlement time.
Not every bank sends every status: many report only rejections, or only a few steps of the flow. Your bank’s implementation guide lists the statuses it uses.
