ISO 20022 payment status

ACCC: Accepted settlement completed (creditor)

Settled on the creditor’s account. ACCC is a payment status your bank reports in a pain.002 status report (banks report it to each other in pacs.002).

What ACCC means

Settlement on the creditor’s account is complete: the payee has been credited.

Only the payee’s bank knows when the payee was credited, so ACCC reaches you only if that bank reports back along the chain. Cross-border payments tracked through SWIFT gpi carry this confirmation back to the payer’s bank; many domestic bulk channels never do, and ACSC is then the last status you get.

Where ACCC appears

A status report answers a payment file (pain.001 or pain.008) at up to three levels: the whole message in OrgnlGrpInfAndSts/GrpSts, a payment block in OrgnlPmtInfAndSts/PmtInfSts, and one transaction in TxInfAndSts/TxSts. ACCC may be reported for the whole file (GrpSts), a payment block (PmtInfSts) or a single transaction (TxSts); the Payment File Viewer warns when a status sits at a level its ISO code list does not cover.

The transactions are matched to your file by OrgnlEndToEndId (and OrgnlInstrId), the blocks by OrgnlPmtInfId and the file by OrgnlMsgId.

What comes next, and what to do

  • What usually follows: Nothing: it is the last status a payment reaches.
  • What to do: Use it as proof of payment towards the payee, together with the end-to-end id and, for cross-border payments, the UETR.

Not every bank sends every status: many report only rejections, or only a few steps of the flow. Your bank’s implementation guide lists the statuses it uses.
