ISO 20022 payment status
ACFC: Accepted funds checked
Accepted, and the funds are available. ACFC is a payment status your bank reports in a pain.002 status report (banks report it to each other in pacs.002).
| Code | ACFC |
|---|---|
| Name | Accepted funds checked |
| Outcome | Accepted |
| Reported for | a single transaction (TxSts), in pain.002.001.08 and later |
| Messages | pain.002 (bank to customer), pacs.002 (bank to bank) |
What ACFC means
The technical and customer profile checks passed, and an automatic check found the funds available.
ACFC sits between ACCP and ACSP: on top of the technical and customer profile checks, the bank checked automatically that the account can cover the payment. Not every bank runs a separate funds check before it accepts a payment, so many never send ACFC; payment initiation APIs, which report each check as it passes, are where it shows up most.
Where ACFC appears
A status report answers a payment file (pain.001 or pain.008) at up to three levels: the whole message in OrgnlGrpInfAndSts/GrpSts, a payment block in OrgnlPmtInfAndSts/PmtInfSts, and one transaction in TxInfAndSts/TxSts. ACFC may be reported for a single transaction (TxSts), in pain.002.001.08 and later; the Payment File Viewer warns when a status sits at a level its ISO code list does not cover.

What comes next, and what to do
- What usually follows: ACSP when the payment is executed, then ACSC.
- What to do: Nothing to do. Funds are confirmed at the time of the check; keep the account funded until settlement.
Not every bank sends every status: many report only rejections, or only a few steps of the flow. Your bank’s implementation guide lists the statuses it uses.
