ISO 20022 payment status
ACWC: Accepted with change
Accepted, but something was changed (for example the date or remittance information). ACWC is a payment status your bank reports in a pain.002 status report (banks report it to each other in pacs.002).
| Code | ACWC |
|---|---|
| Name | Accepted with change |
| Outcome | Accepted |
| Reported for | the whole file (GrpSts), a payment block (PmtInfSts) or a single transaction (TxSts) |
| Messages | pain.002 (bank to customer), pacs.002 (bank to bank) |
What ACWC means
The instruction is accepted, but the bank will change something: typically the execution date (a date that was not a business day, or already past its cut-off) or remittance information it could not pass on.
ISO names two typical changes: a different date, and remittance information that is not passed on. A moved date matters for cash planning; dropped remittance means the payee may not be able to match the payment to its invoice, so tell the payee what the payment is for if it matters.
Where ACWC appears
A status report answers a payment file (pain.001 or pain.008) at up to three levels: the whole message in OrgnlGrpInfAndSts/GrpSts, a payment block in OrgnlPmtInfAndSts/PmtInfSts, and one transaction in TxInfAndSts/TxSts. ACWC may be reported for the whole file (GrpSts), a payment block (PmtInfSts) or a single transaction (TxSts); the Payment File Viewer warns when a status sits at a level its ISO code list does not cover.

What comes next, and what to do
- What usually follows: Processing continues with the change: ACSP, then ACSC.
- What to do: Look at the status reason information, or ask your bank, to learn what changed; check a moved execution date against your cash planning.
Not every bank sends every status: many report only rejections, or only a few steps of the flow. Your bank’s implementation guide lists the statuses it uses.
